Aldersgate United Methodist Church transformed its traditional 2-acre lawn into a thriving native prairie garden that's alive with birds, butterflies, pollinators, and open to the public. Explore Aldersgate Gardens, a vibrant urban prairie that brings nature to the heart of Lincoln.
Aldersgate Garden is located on the grounds of Aldersgate United Methodist Church at the corner of 84th and South Streets in Lincoln.
Carlee Moates and Bob Henrickson of PlantNebraska (formerly the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum) discuss the growing popularity of native prairie gardens and how they require less maintenance, conserve water, and reduce the need for chemicals.
Host Carlee Moates and lead gardener Steve Schafer tour the grounds of Aldersgate Gardens. The inspiration for the project was sparked a decade ago when Steve attended a PlantNebraska workshop on native prairie gardens.
