Two flood warnings remained in effect Tuesday morning in southeast Nebraska after heavy rain fell on Monday.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Big Blue River near Crete as well as one for Wahoo Creek near Ithaca. Minor to moderate flooding was possible in both areas.
Much of the eastern part of the state saw rainfall of between 1 and 3 inches Monday, but there were pockets where the totals were much higher.
National Weather Service meteorologist Taylor Nicolaison told Nebraska Public Media News that 5.5 inches fell in Dorchester, about 40 miles southwest of Lincoln, which led to water over roads in some areas. Friend, which like Dorchester is in Saline County, reported just over 5 inches of rain Monday. Weston, in Saunders County got about 4.9 inches, while Garland, which is in Lancaster County, received about 4.7 inches.
Flood warnings were issued for parts of Lancaster, Saline, Saunders and Seward counties on Monday.
Most of the flooding that occurred was minor
The heavy rain in eastern Nebraska on Monday came after some areas of central Nebraska received anywhere from 2-4 inches Saturday and Sunday.
