Nebraska Athletics on Wednesday announced the return of the traditional spring game scrimmage.

Last spring, Husker head coach Matt Rhule opted for a different event called the Husker Games. That included a 7-on-7 flag football game, skills games and other events similar to the NFL Pro Bowl.

Rhule said last year that playing a spring game would allow other teams to poach players in the transfer portal. The opportunity to enter the transfer portal this year ended in mid-January, under a new rule passed by the NCAA.

The spring game dates back to the 1920s and was played every year from 1950 until last year’s skill competition, according to the Associated Press.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, Husker Athletics said in a news release. Donors will get first pick of seats, starting at 9 a.m. CT Thursday, Feb. 19. Tickets go on sale to the public at noon later that day. General admission tickets start at $5 through March 22, the athletic department said. Club seats will be $10 during that time.

From March 23-27, the cost of general admission will increase to $10, before rising to $20 on gameday. Club tickets increase to $20 during game week and $30 on gameday.
