Nebraska fans were experiencing traffic trouble as they made their way to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, for the Huskers' season opener.
Construction work and road closures were holding up fans making their way to Arrowhead Stadium for Thursday night’s game against Cincinnati.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln student Blake Mace said the traffic jam started on Nebraska Highway 2 near Nebraska City.
“Well, Nebraska City was dealing with some construction,” he said. “And so, they’re down to one lane there. It added about 40 minutes to my trek."

Mace said the issues continued with the influx of traffic, including one Nebraskan-related accident, on Interstate 29 heading into Kansas City. The Otoe County Sheriff's Office said eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane near Nebraska City, causing traffic backups.
In a social media post Thursday morning, the Nebraska State Patrol warned traveling fans to be aware of a construction-related road closure on I-29 near Glenwood, Iowa, as well as construction work on the same stretch of interstate in Missouri between Rock Port and Saint Joseph.
Hearing the reports of heavy Husker traffic on I-29 in Iowa and Missouri. Looking at Nebraska and Kansas 511 sites, Highway 75 southbound is a good alternative. https://t.co/goAR20P3Sw

As of Thursday afternoon, Google Traffic showed stalled traffic on I-29 just north of Corning, Missouri, and near Craig, Missouri. Farther south, delays appeared to be stalling southbound I-29 drivers between Highway 59 and the I-29 and I-229 interchange just north of the Kansas City metro area.
The Nebraska State Patrol recommended drivers take U.S. Highway 75 southbound as an alternative route.
