As the final hours of the 2023 spring flea market wound down in Brownville, vendors were already registering for their booth next year. It’s come to be a tradition loved not just by the town’s population, but also by people across the state.

In the southeast corner of Nebraska, Brownville is 30 miles south of Nebraska City. Every year it welcomes people and their pets with free parking and admittance for its Spring Flea Market.

“This is our 67th year doing this,” said Steve Woerth, the town’s cultural district manager. “It's grown over the years and it's something that people have come to enjoy, and we get people that have come back every year. We have lots of our vendors that come back every year.”

Woerth said vendors sell typical items at the flea market: art, collectibles, antiques, tools, clothing and food are all available for purchase.

“It provides people with kind of almost a carnival atmosphere like the almost like going to the state fair, except that we don't have the rides,” Woerth said.

The market runs from Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27. Each day’s hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
