The Nebraska volleyball team could get some extra games this fall.

The Big Ten Conference announced Thursday that it will hold its first-ever conference tournament for women’s volleyball.

Fifteen teams will qualify for the single-elimination tournament, which will be held Nov. 20-25 in Fishers, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. The games will be played at the 7,500-seat Fishers Event Center.

To account for the potential extra games in the tournament, the regular season will be reduced from 20 to 17 games, meaning each team in the league will play each other team just once.

“We look forward to bringing the nation’s top talent together for an entire week of exhilarating competition culminating in the crowning of the inaugural Big Ten Volleyball Tournament Champion,” Commissioner Tony Petitti said in a news release.

The Big Ten will join the Southeastern Conference as the only major conferences to have a women’s volleyball tournament.

Nebraska has won the last three Big Ten regular season championships.
