Give From Your IRA
As a 501(c)(3) public charity, the Nebraska Public Media Foundation is qualified to accept qualified charitable distributions from an individual retirement account (IRA).
If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can direct all or a portion of your required minimum distribution from your IRA to Nebraska Public Media and avoid claiming that portion of your retirement distribution as income.
Gifts should be directed to:
Nebraska Public Media Foundation
1800 N 33rd Street
Lincoln, NE 68503
Nebraska Public Media Foundation’s federal tax identification number is: 86-2239027
Please request your retirement plan administrator to include your name in the communication or contact Becca Jewell to alert us to your incoming gift.
We will send you an acknowledgement of your gift and indicate it was received through your retirement plan.
Membership
Your qualified charitable distribution can support a membership with Nebraska Public Media and qualifies you for two popular member benefits:
- PREMIERE magazine - Our monthly magazine featuring prime time program listings, sports highlights, upcoming events, donor profiles and more
- PBS Passport - Access to an extended on-demand library of thousands of episodes of current and archival PBS and Nebraska Public Media shows
These benefits are available to all active Nebraska Public Media members, so there is no fair market value assigned.
Thank You Gifts
IRS regulations do not allow Nebraska Public Media to provide thank you gifts with a fair market value in return for contributions made through a qualified charitable distribution. If you wish to receive a thank you gift offered during a membership drive, you will need to make your contribution with funds outside of your retirement account.
Beneficiary Designation
To include public media as a part of your legacy, name the Nebraska Public Media Foundation as a beneficiary of an individual retirement account (IRA) or other retirement plans (such as 401(k) or 403(b) plans).
