Air Date: 11/15/2015

NET General Manager and CEO Mark Leonard and PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger discuss public media in Nebraska and the future of television when "NET Celebrates 60 Years: A Conversation with PBS President Paula Kerger" airs at 6 p.m. CT Sunday, Nov. 15, on NET Television. While in Nebraska for NET's 60th anniversary celebration, Kerger was asked to shed light on the challenge faced with delivering content on multiple digital platforms and the importance of education to NET programs. Kerger joined PBS as its sixth president and chief executive in March 2006. Since her arrival, Kerger has made particularly strong commitments to the arts, news and public affairs, high-quality content for education, diversity and the use of new technology to bring public media into the lives of more Americans. Downton Abbey, now in its sixth and final season, was also introduced during her time at PBS. While in Nebraska, Kerger also spoke to NET staff and members at events in Lincoln. In Omaha, she spoke to more than 75 women in leadership positions who were invited to be part of the first partnership event between NET and ICAN (Institute for Career Advancement Needs). ICAN offers programs that guide both women and men as they manage today's diverse business challenges. Kerger visited Lewis & Clark Middle School in Omaha to see work by students taking part in the PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs program. The initiative gives middle and high school students the chance to shoot videos on local and national issues and submit their work to the PBS HewsHour program that airs on NET weeknights at 6 p.m. CT. It also repeats on NET World (NET2) weeknights at 9 p.m. "NET Celebrates 60 Years: A Conversation with PBS President Paula Kerger" will repeat at 11:30 a.m. CT, Sunday, Nov. 22, on NET.
