P.O.W. Atlanta Revisited
Air Date: 10/11/1978
During World War II near the very small town of Atlanta, Nebraska sat one of the largest POW camps in a nine-state region. Established in 1943 and rapidly constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the internment camp held up to 3000 German non-commissioned military servicemen captured in Africa and Europe. This program features interviews with Nebraskans, WWII veterans, and a former German prisoner who all share their knowledge and memories of Camp Atlanta.
