Nebraska Stories

Air Date: 11/01/2013

In 1913, Lutheran pastor William Dahl and the rural community of Axtell worked together to create a compassionate, caring home for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They called it Bethphage Village. A decade later, another Lutheran community on the opposite side of the state established Martin Luther Homes in the small town of Sterling. For decades these two Nebraska-born, faith-based organizations operated independently until 2003 when they merged into Mosaic.
