Nebraska Stories

Air Date: 02/16/2022

Inside a garage in an industrial section of Lincoln are a series of nearly 60 acoustic guitars, basses and mandolins hanging from the ceiling, attached to Ethernet cables, a server and a keyboard. It is the brainchild of artist Charley Friedman, whose latest work explores the intersection of technology, emotion and music, culminating with a national tour and a premiere at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha.

To experience this immersive installation, "Soundtracks for the Present Future," check out these 360 videos from Friedman's studio as NPM Friday LIVE host Genevieve Randall walks through the space while pianist Paul Barnes plays "Prelude in B-flat Minor from the Well-Tempered Clavier" by Johann Sebastian Bach and "Solace: A Mexican Serenade" by Scott Joplin.
