Over 200 volunteer and career firefighters from Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, and South Dakota gathered in the Wildcat Hills for wildfire suppression training in late summer. The exercise was created by the Gering Volunteer Fire Department to develop and improve tactics in fighting wildfires through planned and prescribed fires in the area.
