At the height of the Cold War, Strategic Air Command operated Airborne Command Posts (also known as "Operation Looking Glass") that mirrored the nuclear command underground located at Offutt Air Force Base. One of the last remaining Boeing EC-135 Looking Glass aircraft is under restoration for permanent display at the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Ashland. Volunteers and former crew members of "The Glass," as they call it, reflect on the pride and commitment they carry for this icon of the Cold War.
