The Bay is a Lincoln area community center that usually offers a skateboarding park, art exhibits, and music programming. They are closed due to COVID-19, but are moving some of their programs online.

The Bay will launch “Bayside Online” on April 6th, which will include a full day of programming including mindfulness, yoga, art, journalism, and skateboarding. On weekends programming will include concerts.

Shayne Pearson is program director for The Bay. He said the online tutorials will be an opportunity to grow community.

“This is not purely passive engagement. This is not purely consumer content,” Pearson said. “We’re providing ways for people to respond and ways for people to learn and by challenged in real time, so this is an opportunity for our community to expand and to keep growing during a time when we’re kind of restricted with how we do that.”

The Bay is also offering a support line, replacing programming during “high risk hours” between nine p.m. and midnight.
