Women’s March Nebraska plan Rallies, Moment of Silence for Survivors

Sept. 26, 2018, 3:48 a.m. ·

Women’s March leaders in Nebraska will lead a lunchtime rally at the Senate district office tomorrow (9/27) in Lincoln. The rally is in response to the sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee along with his accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

Survivors, Women’s March of Nebraska leaders, advocates and allies will share their stories with Senator Ben Sasse and voice their opposition Kavanaugh’s approval for the Supreme Court.

Women’s March of Nebraska local advocate, Nicholete Seigfried, says the rally will send an important message to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“We just really don’t want sexual assault to be rewarded with power, and reflecting on believing women and listening to women when they’re sharing these stories of sexual assault,” Seigfried said.

The rally will be held at the office of Senator Ben Sasse near the Capitol building beginning at noon. There will be a moment of silence at 12:30 p.m. to honor survivors of sexual assault.
