A significant snow storm for parts of Nebraska is expected tomorrow through early Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service in Hastings predicts parts of south-central Nebraska could get as much as 11 inches of snow, with amounts decreasing to the east.

The Nebraska State Patrol will be out in full force during the storm, which will coincide with travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Colonel John Bolduc of the State Patrol urged drivers to be patient.

“Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel holidays of the year. A lot of people will be on the roads to go visit family and loved ones, and if you add in dangerous winter weather conditions like we are anticipating, it adds to the mix," Bolduc said. "So we’re gonna have more vehicles on the road, we’re gonna have slow traffic because of the weather, and slippery conditions. So this is gonna require folks to be patient, plan ahead, give themselves extra time.”

The majority of the snow is expected to fall Tuesday afternoon and evening. Travelers can get updates on road conditions throughout the state at 511.nebraska.gov.
