Nebraska’s football program heads into next season with its first winning record since 2016.

The team finished 7-6 with a win over Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Former Husker offensive lineman Jay Moore said work ethic is positive for the program going forward. He spoke on Big Red Wrap-Up, Nebraska Public Media’s weekly Husker football show.

“You start adding in a little more talent through recruiting, transfer portal, you clean up the special teams, you’re going to find a couple of wins easily,” Moore said.

He predicted the Big Red would win about seven or eight games in 2025.

Mike’l Severe, host of Big Red Wrap-Up, said quarterback Dylan Raiola’s progression will be key.

“Can he make those throws that sometimes he missed this season?” Severe asked. “Can he be that next-level quarterback for Nebraska?”

The Big Red Wrap-Up hosts also said replacing longtime starters on the offensive and defensive line, along with improving special teams, will be important.

The season kicks off Thursday, Aug. 28, against Cincinnati at the Kansas City Chiefs stadium.

Once the 2025 season gets underway, Big Red Wrap-Up will return every Tuesday night on Nebraska Public Media.
