The University of Nebraska-Kearney will hold in-person commencement ceremonies at the Health and Sports arena for December 2020 undergraduate and graduate students this week.

The first ceremony will be held Thursday evening at 7 p.m. for approximately 50 graduate students, and the second will be held Friday at 10 a.m. for approximately 250 undergraduate students.

Vice-Chancellor Kelly Bartling said it means a lot to students to be able to celebrate such an important milestone.

"Our graduates are thrilled that they get to celebrate," Bartling said. "It is a once in a lifetime opportunity that they have to walk across the stage and feel that thrill you get when you know that you’ve accomplished something great."

Bartling said everyone attending either ceremony must wear a mask and social distancing will be required. She said they have planned for how to do the ceremonies as safely as possible for months and are excited to be able to do it in-person.
