Nebraska business confidence was just one point below the neutral level of 100, according to the latest monthly survey from the Bureau of Business Research at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Director of Business Research and UNL professor Eric Thompson said results show businesses are reasonably confident about the future despite the pandemic.

"It suggests that businesses will be comfortable hiring when they feel like they need to," he said. "They won't be reserved about that."

Survey results show business expectations were above the neutral level at 104.7. Thompson said businesses think they can expand over the next six months but they still have concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, lack of customer demand, and finding qualified workers.

He said the results are positive, but people should still be cautious of the upcoming challenges the economy will face.
