Storm Clouds from Fort Robinson

People in central Nebraska should be prepared for the possibility of severe thunderstorms Tuesday evening.

The area with the most risk stretches from Sidney in the west across North Platte and through Grand Island and Hastings to the east.

NWS Hastings meteorologist Mike Moritz said in a web briefing earlier today that this will start out as a wind and hail event, and then become mostly a high wind event, with the possibility of flash flooding in some areas due to heavy rains. He said to expect several warnings to be issued throughout the night and also to expect some storm damage.

Storms could kick up around 6 p.m. in Western Nebraska and continue on eastward until around 10 p.m.
