Two arrests have been made in connection to recent fentanyl-laced cocaine overdoses in Lincoln. Anna Idigima and her boyfriend George Weaver Jr. are being charged. Idigima worked for the Nebraska State Patrol as an evidence technician for 14 years. Authorities said Friday some of the drugs have been traced back to a Nebraska State Patrol evidence room.

John Bolduc is the Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol and said Idigima was trusted and their evidence procedures were verified.

“We have already begun a thorough review of our evidence storage policy and procedures. Our current procedures have followed the guidance and accreditation process set forth by the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies or CALEA,” he said.

Idigima’s employment with the state patrol was suspended about one month ago and terminated recently. Weaver is the owner of a popular Lincoln restaurant, GrannyWeavs.

There have been 160 accidental overdoses in Lincoln this year alone. LPD isn’t sure how many cases are being linked to the couple who were arrested Thursday.

Bolduc said the Nebraska State Patrol believes Idigima allegedly began stealing drugs from the evidence room recently, following their latest audit.
