Human remains found west of Lincoln have been identified as a man who went missing in the area in November 2023.

Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office held a press briefing Monday where he confirmed the remains found near Highway 77 and West Pioneers Boulevard were Tyler Goodrich.

“Based on what we have discovered and details at the scene, the deceased has been identified as Tyler Goodrich, who has been missing since Nov. 3, 2023,” said Chief Deputy Ben Houchin. “I would like to send our condolences and deepest sympathy to Tyler’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.”

The remains were found Saturday morning, when authorities were dispatched to the wooded area at the northwest corner of the intersection after human remains were found. The remains were described as suspicious over the weekend, though Houchin said the case is not believed to have been a homicide.

An autopsy is to be conducted on Monday.

During the preliminary investigation, crime scene technicians observed the body had been at the location for an extended period of time.

Houchin said during the briefing the body was found 967 yards from Goodrich’s residence.

“No words will ease the grief of the loss of this for the family,” Houchin said. “I am glad they get some closure... It's very obvious he was very loved and cared for.”
