Governor Pete Ricketts honored over ninety Korean War Veterans during a ceremony held at the State Capitol on Friday.

Ricketts, joined by Deputy Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chicago Donghan Yang and Nebraska Department of Veteran Affairs director John Hilgert, honored the veterans on the 65th anniversary of the National Korean War Veterans’ Armistice Day.

“We appreciate your sacrifices, your actions and everything you did to protect our liberties and to provide the same opportunities for that freedom to other people. That your sacrifices mattered and made a difference and that we as a nation could not be more proud of our Korean War veterans,” Ricketts said.

Veterans received the Ambassadors of Peace medal, which was created by the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Patriots and Veterans’ Affairs to honor American service men and women.
