A replica of the tomb of the unknown soldier will be at Buffalo Bill State Park in North Platte, Nebraska this weekend. The visit is a part of a tour around the country in honor of the original tomb’s 100th anniversary.

Michelle Lupomech with Daughters of the American Revolution said the replica tomb emphasizes the military’s sacrifice.

“Honoring those that have passed and just to honor the history of America,” she said. “As well as, honoring these families that are associated with this that have never got to know where their fallen loved ones are.”

The tomb pays homage to those unaccounted for in both World Wars, the Korean War and Vietnam.

There will be a horse drawn funeral procession at the park on Saturday, similar to the first procession in 1921 when the original tomb was established in Arlington, Virginia.

The replica was in Seward, Nebraska for viewing earlier this week.
