The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s priority candidate to be the next chancellor will be kicking off an engagement tour.
It was announced on May 6 that Dr. H. Dele Davies was named the priority candidate for UNMC’s chancellor.
Davies’ tour will start on Wednesday in Kearney at the Health Science Education Center II and will go through June 3 in Scottsbluff at Western Nebraska Community College. He will visit University of Nebraska campuses in Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha, as well as UNMC facilities in Norfolk and Scottsbluff.
“I look forward to engaging with the UNMC, NU and Nebraska communities in the coming days,” Davies said in a press release. “Listening is at the heart of the chancellor role — listening to our faculty, staff, students, students, partners and communities across Nebraska, and to all those who count on UNMC to educate, discover and heal.”
The tour is a part of a public vetting process, and the visits will be used to share his vision and answer questions.
“I’m excited for members of our university community to have the chance to meet with Dr. Davies and hear his vision for the future of UNMC and the statewide care it supports, as well as to provide meaningful feedback on his candidacy for the next chancellor of UNMC,” NU President Dr. Jeffrey Gold said in the press release.
Davies has served as the school’s interim chancellor since 2024.
Anyone who wishes to provide feedback on Davies can do so online through the NU website up until June 3.
The Nebraska Board of Regents could vote to approve the new UNMC chancellor as early as June 18.
