Police issue six citations after hit-and-run at Fremont protest

The Fremont Police Department issued six citations following a hit-and-run crash at a student protest outside Fremont High School last week.

Video taken by News Channel Nebraska appears to show a juvenile driver entering his vehicle, moving forward, slowing and then accelerating before striking a pedestrian who appeared to be in the roadway.

Police cited the juvenile driver for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. The pedestrian who was struck was cited for being a pedestrian on a highway or roadway, police said.

An adult, Megan Sheaks of Fremont, was cited for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, according to local officials.

Police also cited three other juveniles, according to a press release. Two were cited for obstructing a police officer and disorderly conduct. Another juvenile was cited for criminal mischief and theft.
