Part of a lawsuit filed by former Nebraska women’s basketball athlete Ashley Scoggin against former University of Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts won’t be heard by a jury. That’s according to an order filed by a Lincoln District Court Judge on Thursday.
Other questions in the case are subject to a jury trial, according to Scoggin’s lawyer Maren Chaloupka.
Scoggin’s complaint alleges former associate head coach Chuck Love engaged in a predatory sexual relationship with her. The suit also claims her Title IX rights were violated by current head coach Amy Williams, former athletic director Trev Alberts and the Board of Regents for not investigating the situation and by kicking Scoggin off the team.
Alberts now leads the athletic department at Texas A&M University.
Scoggin was a starter at guard for the Huskers and was on the roster from 2020-22, before later completing her college eligibility at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
The parties will discuss next steps in early October.
