Tuesday marks the start of “Do Good Days” across the Omaha metro area, where organizers are asking Omahans to help out local nonprofits.

Share Omaha, along with First National Bank of Omaha, is asking Omahans to make cash donations Tuesday, buy wish list items on Wednesday and volunteer on Thursday. Marjorie Maas, Share Omaha's executive director, said, after two difficult years for nonprofits, these three days are needed.

“It is so rewarding for individuals to know that they're making a positive difference, and that the nonprofits see that people want to meet them and get involved with their cause," Maas said. "'Do Good Days' really is that packed boost full of encouragement to nonprofits but also support.”

As of Tuesday morning, Share Omaha tallied 1,010 donations, totaling $315,832. For Wednesday, Maas recommends those interested in helping should find something they are passionate about – and find a nonprofit that fits their passions. She said those people can check out Amazon wish list items on ShareOmaha.org or give items directly to the nonprofits. Local volunteers can also find opportunities for Thursday on its website, Maas said.

FNBO also pitched in to help sponsor some prizes for those Omahans that donate time, money or items this week.
