The Omaha Symphony is offering music and music education online through the Omaha Symphony Anywhere series on their website.

Symphony Anywhere includes audio recordings of previous performances by the symphony, including music the symphony considers particularly hopeful.

Musicians with the symphony are also producing educational videos to be used by parents, teachers, and young musicians. The videos are intended to keep students practicing their instruments and help teachers who are teaching music classes remotely.

Symphony Anywhere will also include new recordings of Omaha Symphony musicians playing classical and pop music.

Dani Meier is vice president of artistic administration for the Omaha Symphony and a member of the bass section. She emphasized the importance of music during this uncertain time.

“People don’t realize how much they need classical music or just how much they need the experience of live music until they don’t have it,” Meier said. “And they don’t realize the impact of the arts on their lives until they don’t have access to it.”

The symphony is still planning to celebrate its 100th anniversary next year.
