Omaha FBI’s Diversity Recruitment Event was a special event aimed at attracting people from diverse backgrounds interested in a career with the FBI. Special agent Michele Stevenson said Wednesday night’s event was a success.
“It’s always important to get a conversation started and to let the community know we are interested in having individuals with a diverse background and different perspectives to join our agency," she said.
Stevenson said 40 men and women of various races and ethnicities attended the event, many of whom were of college age. Attendees spoke to active FBI employees, learned about background checks and other requirements, and heard why the FBI is pursuing greater diversity.
“We are actively hosting these programs nationwide to in an effort to ensure we are reaching the communities that we serve,” she said.
Stevenson says similar events will likely be held again, with more scheduled at other FBI field offices around the nation.
