The pandemic has created an economic shock throughout the country, hurting nearly every business in Nebraska. It is a scary time to own a business, let alone start one. Robert Chavez is the owner of The Dapper Doughnut in Omaha and opened his shop less than two weeks ago. Although Chavez said it is scary to be opening a business during this time, he was planning on opening the shop on May 30. before the pandemic became serious, and he decided to stick with his original plan.

“We all have positive vibes here and we’re all about moving forward, but at the same time being safe,” Chavez said. It’s tough times, but we’re really positive.”

The Dapper Doughnut is a franchise with locations in the United States and Canada, but this is the first store to open in Nebraska. Chavez said he didn’t know if he was going to be able to open the store until the day before. He says he’s excited he was able to open and is hopeful about the future of his store.
