The University of Nebraska expanded its Presidential Scholars program that awards a full ride to any NU campus, plus a $5,000 stipend for students who earn a perfect score on the ACT.

Those who score a 32-35 can now apply for the scholarship. Those with a perfect score of 36 will continue to automatically receive the scholarship, and the remaining spots will be awarded through the application process.

About 50 scholarships will be available next year, and 28 have been awarded so far to those with a perfect ACT score.

“Our state’s future will be bright when our most driven and passionate young people attend college here in Nebraska,” NU President Jeffrey Gold said in a press release. “This is an investment in our state that underscores two deeply ingrained Nebraska values: hard work and excellence at the highest level.”

The Presidential Scholars program began this fall with 17 students who had perfect ACT scores receiving the award. The university announced the program in February.
