The northern Nebraska panhandle is getting hit with heavy snow Friday. Darren Snively with the National Weather Service in North Platte said the storm is moving east and will be the most severe in northern Nebraska.
“The highest amounts we’ve received so far, generally, from Gordon on over to Cody, and then the Valentine-area,” Snively said. “We’ve received multiple eight-inch reports, and then up as high as 11 [inches] around Valentine.”
In northeastern Nebraska, six-to-eight inches are expected to fall north of Norfolk. According to the National Weather Service, winter storms should end around midnight in Nebraska.
Snively said bringing a winter kit equipped with food, water and blankets in your car is a good precaution during heavy snow storms. Additionally, Nebraska's Department of Transpiration displays photos of highway conditions at 511.nebraska.gov.
