North Omaha opened its first drive-through Covid-19 vaccine clinic this week and approximately 400 people were vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Angela Ling is the incident commander for Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services, and she said the response from the community has been positive so far.

She said the focus of the clinic at Metro Community College, Fort Omaha Campus is to get more people in the North Omaha community vaccinated.

“Any access point for vaccines is going to be best for the state," Ling said. "So, we’re just excited we can provide an additional point of service."

She said the goal is to vaccinate 400 every every Monday and Thursday.

The clinics will be available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m..
