A new farm safety website called “Telling the Story” features firsthand accounts by farmers who have been injured or have lost family members to agriculture-related accidents. The site comes online during National Farm Safety Week this week, September 22 - 26.

The project’s tagline - tell a story, save a life - is the primary focus of the site.

Coordinator and outreach specialist with the Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health Ellen Duysen said the website provides a platform for farmers who have been impacted by accidents to offer insight for injury prevention in the future.

“We have a wide range of agricultural workers who are at great risk. If we can bring them stories and if we can relate educational materials to them in a way that they are comfortable receiving it, I think this is really going to be a win for everybody, and hopefully with our ultimate goal of reducing fatalities and injuries with this population,” Duysen said.
