Nebraska schools to play for a chance at the women's college world series

Two Nebraska teams received invitations to the NCAA Softball Tournament after the pairings were announced Sunday.
The University of Nebraska is a No. 2 seed in its four-team regional. The Cornhuskers will head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to compete in a regional hosted by No. 10 overall seed LSU. NU is 39-13 on the season and boasts Big Ten Pitcher and Player of the Year Jordy Bahl. She’s the first woman to win both of those awards in the same season. The Big Red will face off against No. 3 seed Connecticut at 2 p.m. Central time Friday.
The University of Nebraska-Omaha won the Summit League tournament championship for the third season in a row to earn an automatic bid to the tournament. The Mavericks are 39-11, including wins in 18 of their last 20 games. Omaha will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, for its regional. Oklahoma is the host and No. 2 overall seed in the tournament. The No. 3-seeded Mavericks will hit the diamond against the No. 2 team in the region, California, at 2:30 p.m. Central time Friday.
Both first-round matchups can be streamed on ESPN Plus. The double-elimination regionals continue into Sunday.
