The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center brand is expanding its reach across Nebraska at three locations.

It was announced that the brand was expanding to include Village Pointe Health Center in Omaha, Bellevue Medical Center and a location in Kearney that will open this December.

“Since 2017, the name Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center has been synonymous with dedicated research, cutting-edge treatment, groundbreaking clinical trials and extraordinary patient care,” Joann Sweasy, director of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, said in a press release. “We are excited to bring this distinguished name to all our cancer centers as we work to increase the impact of our research and improve access to cancer care and prevention.”

Cancer care, research and education will continue in partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center at the cancer center in Omaha, which opened in 2017.

The new expanded network aims to ensure urban, suburban and rural communities can access top-tier cancer care close to home. It also means more collaboration between researchers and clinical cancer specialists, opening the door to faster breakthroughs.

The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center is the only center in the state with a National Cancer Institute designation, and one of just 72 nationwide.

That recognition, held since 1984, reflects the center's commitment to cutting-edge research in preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer, the press release said.

The naming includes a new $52 million cancer center in Kearney scheduled to open in December.

For patients, the designation means access to advanced treatments, clinical trials and comprehensive care. More than 110 researchers work to ensure patients benefit from the latest innovations in cancer care.
