The University of Nebraska College of Law has joined a national consortium to address legal issues in policing while promoting racial equity.

Josephine Potuto is a UNL law professor and the state's consortium representative. She said the goal is to create practical recommendations to help police do their jobs better.

"Hopefully, out of this project will come a better understanding from each side and ability for all of us to work together so that we have effective and strong law enforcement," Potuto said. "And we also have a policing that is even handed with regard to all members of the community.

UNL joins 51 other U.S. law schools nationwide in the American Bar Association’s Legal Education Police Practices Consortium.
