Nebraska Electrical Providers are Restoring Power in the Aftermath of Hurricane-Force Winds

Hurricane force winds swept through Nebraska on Wednesday, leaving homes throughout the state without power.
Grant Otten, a Nebraska Public Power District spokesperson, said NPPD continues restoring power for the over one-hundred outages that remain as of Thursday afternoon.
“It started in south-central Nebraska, when that strong storm initially came in,” Otten said. “A lot of the outages we saw were primarily that central Nebraska and southeast Nebraska area. There were some outages in the northeast section, too.”
For outages that take longer to repair, Otten said the power district will supply generators to help residents run their homes.
About 7,000 Omaha Public Power District homes and businesses don’t have power as of Thursday afternoon. Lincoln Electric System reports 30 outages.
