Nebraskans in need of same-day services for mental health or substance abuse challenges have resources available across the state.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Behavioral Health works with clinics to offer same day scheduling and walk-in appointments.
There are multiple providers available in each of the state’s six behavioral health regions. A list of providers can be found on the DHHS Same Day webpage.
The clinics offer services for people with private insurance, Medicaid and people who are not eligible for Medicaid. Services include crisis response, initial intake assessments and outpatient therapy.
Dr. Thomas Janousek, who directs the Division of Behavioral Health, said the quick appointment turnarounds help with health care accessibility issues.
“Same Day Services are essential for getting people the immediate help that they need and makes an impact on behavioral health access issues across our state,” he said.
Anyone experiencing a crisis can also call or text 988 for immediate mental health or substance abuse support.
