Nebraska Democrats are celebrating the swearing in of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States.

Nebraska Democratic Party finance director Precious McKesson, who cast the state’s lone electoral vote for Biden, says the party feels good knowing hard work paid off.

“A lot of the work that we have been fighting for is going to be recognized," McKesson said. "Especially if you look at the Keystone Pipeline; people have been fighting that for years, and the fact that it’s a part of one of the executive orders today … that’s really monumental, especially to our state.”

McKesson says it is time for the country to come together.

“Yes you know, he [Joe Biden] is a Democrat president, but he is the president for all of us. And so we must now unite so we can move forward, and start the healing process to build us back better,” McKesson said.

McKesson says having a new administration that is going to attack the pandemic head-on will inevitably benefit at the state level as well.
