Nebraska head baseball coach Will Bolt's contract with Husker Athletics was extended on Tuesday.
The new agreement ties Bolt and Nebraska through the 2029 season, paying him $500,000 per year, according to the athletic department.
“Will has been a big part of the success of Nebraska Baseball over the past two decades, not only as the head coach, but also as an assistant coach and player," Troy Dannen, Director of Athletics at Nebraska, said in a press release. "Through his past experiences, he knows what it takes to win at Nebraska and has a great vision to continue to elevate our program in the coming years.”
This spring, the Cornhuskers won the Big Ten tournament championship, earning a spot in the Stillwater regional of the NCAA tournament. Bolt’s team went 1-2 in the regional.
In Bolt’s first full season as the head coach in 2021, the Huskers narrowly lost to Arkansas in a regional championship matchup in the NCAA tournament. Nebraska won the regular season Big Ten crown that year.
Over the course of his five years, the Huskers finished with a winning record in three seasons including two NCAA tournament appearances.
In 2020, there were no postseason tournaments because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
