Bars and Bottle Clubs that have been closed since March are gearing up to reopen June 1st under updated directed health measures announced Thursday. Hobie Rupe is the executive director of the Liquor Control Commission in Nebraska and said that local bars have been crushed during the pandemic shutdown.

“The true bars, ones without food service, I think have suffered even more from the restaurants and bars [bars that also serve food],” Rupe said. “Since they were able to do carry out meals and that kind of stuff. It's been tough on them.”

Rupe said he’s hoping bars will bounce back financially, but it will be a long process. Bars will be able to reopen at partial capacity and will have to follow the same social distancing rules that restaurants have for the past several weeks.
