Nebraska and Creighton earn spots in the NCAA volleyball tournament

Nebraska and Creighton earned spots in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament. Both schools will host first and second round matches.

The Cornhuskers were selected as the No. 2 overall team in the field and a No. 1 seed in its region. It will host Florida A&M in a first round match at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Bob Devaney Sports Center will host Miami-Florida and South Dakota State at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The winners of the two matches will face off in the second round Saturday. If the Huskers keep winning, it will play at home until the Final Four, which is in Louisville, Kentucky, from Dec. 19-22.

Nebraska has now made the NCAA Tournament for 43 seasons in a row.

The 2024 Huskers won a share of the Big Ten regular season championship, finishing the regular season 28-2 overall and 18-1 in conference play.

For Creighton, it will compete against South Dakota at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Bluejays are 29-2 and won the Big East conference championship last weekend. It didn’t lose a conference game this year.

Florida State and Ole Miss will also play in Omaha with the second round match slated for 7 p.m. Friday.
