Creighton and Nebraska didn’t lose a set in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament over the weekend.
In their first round win against Florida A&M Friday, Nebraska established two school records for the rally scoring era. The Big Red broke the school record for points allowed in a set and throughout a match, giving up just three points in the first set and 29 points total.
The No. 1 seed Huskers toppled No. 8 seed Miami in the second round on Saturday night.
The second-seeded Bluejays zoomed past South Dakota in the first round Thursday. Creighton won two close sets to defeat Ole Miss in the second round Friday.
Both programs advance to the round of 16 teams.
Creighton will compete against No. 3 seed Texas at Noon this Friday, in a game hosted by Penn State. Nebraska will host No. 5 seed Dayton Friday night.
If the Huskers win, they would play the winner of No. 2 seed Wisconsin and No. 6 seed Texas A&M.
Creighton would be paired up with the winner of No. 1 Penn State or No. 5 seed Marquette if they win.
The in-state schools would face off in the Final Four, if they each win two more games.
