A gun safety advocate from Nebraska will be at the White House Monday as President Biden formally signs the bipartisan gun safety bill.

Melody Vaccaro of Nebraskans Against Gun Violence will attend the ceremony. She says she is humbled by the invitation. And she said that, while the federal law helps, her group continues to push for things Nebraskans can do on the state and local level to increase safety.

"Safe storage. How do we keep guns away from people who shouldn't have them? How do we make sure gun stores aren't set up in a situation where it is easy to steal guns? How do community members make sure they lock up their own guns so children cannot access them?"

When the Biden Administration was preparing to take over, Vaccaro was involved in presenting the group’s Nebraska Firearms Report to Biden’s transition team.
