Major League Baseball All-Star and Omaha native Alec Bohm will be inducted into the first-ever Omaha Roncalli Hall of Fame on Friday.
Bohm graduated from Roncalli High School in 2015 and played at Wichita State University before being drafted third overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018.
T.J. Orr is an administrator at the private school and said Bohm’s ascension to become an MLB All-Star is surreal.
“To be able to honor him, to be able to watch him, to be able to just know that he's part of our school, it's literally hitting a home run. Let's say that. It’s amazing,” Orr said.
Orr said the Phillies third baseman has given to the baseball program and scholarship fund.
“He has donated strictly just to baseball, giving the kids some equipment, some things throughout the years, and he's also giving back to the school as well,” Orr said.
Proceeds from Friday’s banquet will help the Catholic school’s athletic programs.
