Two major Memorial Day events are happening this weekend in Omaha, including a new event that will have you looking to the skies.

‘Balloon Glow’ is being organized by the group Patriotic Productions. It features the world's largest American Flag hot air balloon. The balloon , called America One, will fly over Omaha on Friday and land in the parking lot at Baxter Arena – where 7 other hot air balloons will be stationed. The America One balloon will take off from the 156th S. entrance of Zorinsky Park at 6 a.m.

Then, on Saturday, the annual Memorial Day parade will take place in Omaha’s Old Market.

Bill Williams, from Patriotic Productions, says these events have some specific goals.

"Our mission is to honor Gold Star families and to promote patriotism, particularly among the young, and to remind people of the importance of Decoration Day, now Memorial Day," he said.
