Omaha firefighters continue to contain a massive chemical factory fire on Tuesday after the fire forced evacuations Monday night.

The fire was at Nox-Crete, Inc., which is north of downtown Omaha. The company makes several chemicals for industrial use.

Thick black smoke and flames could be seen for miles Monday evening.

The Omaha fire department ordered people north and southwest of the blaze to shelter-in-place due to concerns about the volatility of the chemicals and the heavy smoke. As the fire continued to burn, several neighborhoods around the fire were evacuated. A temporary shelter was set up for people who had nowhere else to go after being evacuated.

The evacuations were lifted on Tuesday as firefighters contained the blaze. At a Tuesday morning news conference, fire officials said there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still being determined.
