Friends and family of fallen Omaha-area Marine Corporal Daegan Page paid their final respects Friday in an emotional funeral service near where he grew up. The send-off honored a young man who was killed by a suicide bomb blast in Afghanistan last month.

At St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard, Cpl. Page’s casket was adorned with American flags, with large pictures of him in uniform and also as a teenager with a hockey stick nearby. Page was killed August 26th in Kabul, Afghanistan, part of a group of Marines guarding the gate to the airport as thousands outside tried to escape the Taliban takeover of the country. Pastor Suzanne Howe led the service.

“You can see how much he loved life and his family and the things that he did,” Howe said. “Just look at the photographs and you will see it.”

Cpl. Page was one of 13 members of the U-S military killed in the suicide bomb blast. He was a 2016 graduate of Millard South High School and immediately wanted to serve his country, something his family said he did with great pride.

“Daegan Page was all-in,” Howe said. “Daegan Page was all-in on life and he left nothing on the table. He gave it all.”

Last week, thousands lined the streets of Omaha as Cpl. Page was returned home, a final salute to a Marine who gave his life for his country. He was buried Friday afternoon at Omaha National Cemetery with full military honors.
